Yesterday in Zhaoxing, people celebrated the Dong New Year which was the first time to be as the statutory holiday for the people in Southeast Guizhou District.

According to the new law by the state government, from this year the people in Kaili region (Prefecture of S.E.Guizhou) will have extra two statutory holidays, one day is for the Miao New Year and another day is for the Dong New Year, though the Dong New Year is not so popular as the Miao New Year by the Miao people, most of the Dong people still follow the tradtional way to celebrate lunar Spring Festival as the New Year. Only a few villages have small celebration for the Dong New Year.
